Co-curricular activities facilitate in the development of various domains of mind and personality such intellectual development, emotional development, social development, moral development and aesthetic development, creativity, enthusiasm and energetic positive thinking are some of the facets of personality development and the outcomes of extracurricular activities.
The real aim of education can be fully realized by introducing co-curricular activities at every stage of education.
Picnic
The school takes great pride to provide its students with ample opportunities to get an experience of the outside world by organizing educational tour and excursions throughout the year. The students of Nursery to grade IV were taken to Gandharv Resort, Top, Kolhapur. The students enjoyed in the water park and was mesmerized by the magic show.
All the students expressed a desire to revisit the place with their friends. Some also mentioned that though they had been to this place with their family, they enjoyed coming with their friends the most. A great day for all the students and teachers as well, as it strengthened the bond between the students and their teachers.
The students of Std. V to VIII of Jaywant International School, Wathar, went for their study tour to the historical city of Mysore & Ooty on 12th January, 2017. It was a three days and two night trip. It was a wonderful experience where we learnt many things. The students learnt the value of sharing and caring for others during this entire trip. They learnt to become more independent and tolerant as throughout the trip they had to be along with their peers and classmates. They shared their rooms and took care of themselves as well as each other.
International Yoga Day
To support our culture and our rituals every year JIS celebrates international Day of Yoga on 21st of June. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body thought and action restraint and fulfillment of harmony between man and nature a holistic approach to health and well being. On 21st June, 2016 a training was arranged to practically aware students and staff about Yoga and its techniques in which all the JIS students and staff together participated and they all were informed about the techniques and usage of yoga and its effects on different organs of our body. The yoga training was scheduled in the morning at 9:00 am and it training was scheduled for one and a half hour up to 10:30 am. All the students were so excited and after the training they were so amazed that they took an oath that they will surely do yoga everyday to stay fit and healthy as well as yoga will help them to improve their concentration and ability to think in positive way.
Guru poornima
”Just as the moon shines by reflecting the light of the sun, and glorifies it, all disciples can dazzle like the moon by gaining from their Gurus”.
The school celebrates Guru poornima every year to express respect towards teachers. At Jaywant International School, students felicitated their teachers with flowers and greeting cards and thanked them for playing an important role in shaping their careers .
Hindi day
The students and staff of Jaywant International School celebrated Hindi Diwas in the school campus on September 14.
It was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India. To mark this day the students of JIS spoke in Hindi the entire day.
A special assembly marked the occasion with students singing melodious bhajans. They even recited Kabir’s Dohey, Rahim’s Dohey and Thulasidas’s Dohey. A quiz was also held.
Teachers day
Teachers are the torch bearers of the Gen-next
Teachers play a major role in making their students responsible citizens of tomorrow and good human beings. It is possible to imagine our lives without teachers. They are cornerstone of our future. We can never thank teachers enough for their immense contribution in a student’s life. Teachers Day is celebrated to show our acknowledgement and recognition of the hard work put in by our teachers towards our development.
Teachers Day at Jaywant International School was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with giving a tribute to Dr. Saravpalli Radhakrishnan. The day had an emotional and recreational touch. The students did all the preparations with complete energy and excitement. There were various games for the teachers and the students also performed various dances.
Van Mahotsav
‘Trees are the kindest things we grow’. This has been rightly said as the needs of all the living beings are fulfilled by them. But their depleting number has become a serious issue. To make students aware of this issue and taking initiative towards it, Jaywant International School, Wathar celebrated Tree Plantation day on 1st of July 2016 in its premises.
Tree planting during the festival serves various purpose such as providing alternative fuel, increasing production of food resources creating shelter belts around fields to increase productivity providing food for cattle, offering shade and helping to prevent soil erosion etc. It helps spread awareness about the harm caused by the cutting down of trees and it is expected that every citizen of India will plant a sapling in the Van Mahotsav week.
